Good idea to listen to the actor, jeff Daniels on IG about Americans; the speaker doesn't think that we're the cats meow. I think it was written by Aaron Sorkin and it's brilliant acting, and the truth. The messaging should be how silly the American dream is because dreams don't come true.

@Joan. If I understand what you are saying, you (and perhaps the people you reference) are living in some kind of zero-sum world where American not being perfect somehow means it isn't worthwhile defending and advancing? Out of the roughly 8 billion people on this planet at least 6 billion of them know that America is better than anything they have got or can get. I'm not saying this to oppose constructive criticism - it's undeniable that we need that. But the American Dream is not silly it's an inspiration to humanists everywhere.

@ Joan. I read your thing. This was a long rant which wrongly concludes that messages about moving more, eating less, and drinking less alcohol aren’t right. Also, wrong about Trump as is now becoming clear to everyone. Right about new drugs to help people curb their appetites. Left out the role of genetics, each person’s appetite based in their genome and genetically advantaged people exploiting their physique to sell voodoo diets and useless exercise programs.
