Taylor Swift? The national media, and too many regular folks, took the bait and spent time on this deeply unserious crap. In a news cycle that should be highlighting how our country and the world are facing very difficult and dangerous issues, we can’t be spending time on whether or not a fringe of discontented incels and greedy, desperate talking heads on media are going to boycott NFL games. At a time when many many thousands of people are dying around the world, even here in the good old USA, it is immoral and plain dumb to get sucked into this nothing burger of wasted air space. Folks, we have real issues!
UPS layoffs; does that damage the Biden economy?
Burns on Ukraine defense; are we about to lose democracy in Europe?
Response to attacks on US troops; shall we hit Iran directly?
Gaza; can the United States find a policy position that balances humanitarian concerns for civilians in Gaza with the need for Israeli security?
Southern Border; can Trump and Johnson be overturned in their opposition to the strongest legislation ever addressed to the problems?
In an election year, can a man already found by juries to be liable for fraud, liable for sexual assault, and found by several States, a Congressional Commission and more than a few judges to have engaged in attempts to overthrow an election still be a viable candidate for the highest office in the land?
I have my thoughts and answers to each of the above. I would love it if someone wants to debate the real issues facing this country. Let’s get past the stupid distractions that are being thrown up by people who admittedly seek to create chaos and disrupt the normal order of things.
Let’s laugh at them for (say) 25 seconds and then get back to the difficult and necessary work of saving democracy in this country!
