President Trump gets no respect from world leaders because Trump-the-man is not a respectable man.
A key example for today is the obvious fact that Putin does not take him seriously; it’s plain to see. The lack of respect from Putin and other leaders resonates throughout the international order. Trump only has one main skill, the film flam.
He conjured up bone spurs to cover avoidance of duty. He pursued numerous bankruptcies to cover business failures. Lies, lies and more lies to cover his many mistakes. He used the perquisites of high political office to escape judgment for his 34 proven felonies and perverted sexual escapades.
Trump doesn’t write his own books. He doesn’t fulfill his contracts. He denigrates national heroes though he never served. Trump cheats at business, cheats on his taxes, even cheats at golf, reportedly. Trump is not a role model for our young people. He is not the equal of any of the 45 stalwart Americans who have held that office before this person was regrettably elected.
On the occasion of this Memorial Day, as our thoughts turn to the sacrifices made by honorable men and women throughout our history, it is a good time to reflect upon the question, as JFK famously advised, what can we each do for our country?
Our job is not to finish the work of building democracy in our country - that work will never be finished as we struggle for an ever more perfect union.
It is not our job to stand alone against tyranny in defending our country, though there are many enemies of freedom within and outside our borders.
Rather, as a child of free people, many of whom have given their lives for our rights and freedoms, neither are we not to do our share.
Honestly I wouldn’t care if Trump lived or died, except that now the disrespect shown the man bears down on all of us. Trump dishonors our country every day that he occupies his position.
Many Americans now realize the mistake they made entrusting our national honor to this man. But too many are willing to look the other way in order to get what they want from this corrupt politician. It is hard to say, but it’s also true, that too many Americans still support the twice impeached and 34 times convicted criminal.
I’m sorry for this latter group that they don’t have the conscience, the empathy, the generosity nor the good will towards their countrymen and women that honorable leaders have always displayed.
Honor may be an outmoded concept these days. But it is time that American voters demand that our elected leaders are honorable people. If we elect honest public servants, IMHO, the politics will take care of itself.
Very true!
